Rowing across the Atlantic in 2023
to help combat climate change.

WaveBreakers Logo

We are the WaveBreakers. We are three ordinary women, taking on the extraordinary. We are going to row across the Atlantic Ocean in December 2023 to protect your planet. We are rowing for #YourPlanet, a campaign to protect those on the frontlines of the climate crisis: our most vulnerable animal species and climate refugees.

One of the biggest challenges of the crossing is funding the extensive list of kit and courses needed to ensure a safe and viable crossing. As well as that, there are costs to set up the tools we need to communicate our cause and drum up the support needed. Help us raise these crucial funds, to give us the platform to raise the money for the charities.

If you’d like to come on board with our adventure and sponsor us, please get in touch. We can offer amazing exposure to your brand on an incredibly exciting, national and international, platform.  We’d love to hear from you!

Charities

We are rowing 3,000 miles the Atlantic to Protect our Planet.

The climate crisis is here; as our planet heats up, we’re living through more extreme weather, floods, fires and droughts. We have lost 69% of our world’s wildlife, and every year, over 20 million people are forced to leave their homes due to climate change.

Our campaign will protect those on the frontlines of the climate crisis: our most vulnerable animal species and climate refugees.

WWF’s Climate Crisis Fund: which runs programmes to defend wild places, restore forests, and keep our oceans healthy.

A lot has changed in the past 50 years. How we travel, work and produce our food. How we generate our energy and manage our waste. As a result, this has had significant impact and consequences on our natural resources, our wildlife and all of us that depend on it.

69% of all wildlife population has been lost. Nature is on its knees and many of our critical species are threatened with extinction.

UNHCR’s Climate Crisis work: which provides humanitarian relief to refugees displaced by the climate crisis today.

Millions more are forced from their homes every year by weather-related disasters.

The climate crisis is a human crisis.

It is happening now – destroying livelihoods, disrupting food security, and driving displacement of men, women and children around the world.

The Talisker Whisky Challenge

The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge is the premier event in ocean rowing. A challenge that will take us more than 3000 Miles west from San Sebastian in La Gomera, Canary Islands, Spain (28oN 18oW) to Nelson’s Dockyard, English Harbour, Antigua & Barbuda (17oN 61oW).

We have great sponsorship opportunities …

Our Team

We are Katherine, Hatty and Bobbie and we met through work. We have a shared goal of undertaking the world’s toughest row in aid of two amazing charities.

We also have to raise funds to buy the equipment we need to get to the start line and compete in the race. Our mission starts right here, right now!

Katherine

Our Chief Navigator and Super Mum of 3, has a heart of gold and a contagious laugh that will have anyone smiling. She’s hoping to inspire her kids to take on great challenges and protect our wildlif for future generations. She’s most excited about the wildlife we might see on the crossing.

Hatty

Our Snack Pack Queen and Nutrition Lead. Bundles of enthusiasm, but a tough cookie too. Has a dance for every occasion. We’re not sure how we’re going to keep her out of the water given her love of a cold swim! She’s most excited about the Pina Colada in Antigua.

Bobbie

Our wonderful Skipper, Sustainability Guru and Safety Squirrel, is just the person you want with you on a night shift for a good natter, is never far away from breaking out into giggles and will always be there to spur her teammates along. She’s most excited about the simplicity of life out on the ocean.
